Urban areas have become the hubs for development in the last 20 years. Negative aspects such as rapid population growth, the transformation of economic production and environmental impacts as well as positive aspects such as technology development and the increase in the level of education are just some of the interacting factors in our living environment. These multi-dimensional interactions of urbanization have called for a new approach for challenges in the urban areas.
IDEMA works to create strategies to bring the vision of urban innovation to municipalities, development agencies and related companies to be used as a starting point in urban renewal and innovative urban governance. To actualize urban innovation and share the vision with all urban actors, www.sorumlusehirler.org (Responsible City)’ has been launched. IDEMA is planning to contribute to children’s involvement with urban life and renewal with an application called ‘Urban Child’ that is still under development. Along with these, IDEMA’s internal and external experts are active participants of partnerships such as Child Friendly Cities, Smart Cities and ‘Transatlantic Cities’.
Under the vision of actualizing urban innovation, IDEMA is contributing to activities such as involvement of cities in international processes, visits to successful cities, urban innovation reports, and training for urban workers on new approaches to urban governance.
